Disrupted Higher Education: Leading From the Library
To successfully integrate academic libraries into the future of higher education, academic librarians must grasp the challenges facing their parent institutions and the industry at large. A new wave of entrepreneurially-minded higher education ventures seek to disrupt higher education, with significant implications for traditional colleges and universities. In this presentation, Steven J. Bell, ACRL President-Elect and Associate University Librarian at Temple University, will explore these disruptive trends and their potential impact on our libraries.Academic librarians can help shape the future of their institutions by leading from within. As grassroots leaders who challenge the status quo, academic librarians will better position themselves to integrate their libraries into the local teaching and learning process, while strengthening their institutions' ability to disrupt rather than be disrupted.
